Fine White Wines

Friuli

Cantine Cormons

Ribolla Gialla D.O.C.
Bright, floral nose with notes of peach and honey blossom. Crisp, taut acidity on the palate contrasts with a rounded, soft mouth feel. Peach, apricot and fragrant blossom characters on the palate sit happily alongside crisper lemon and apple notes. Well balanced and good length. Ripe fruit and a backbone of clean acidity alongside a spicy richness.

Collio Chardonnay D.O.C.
This is a truly outstanding pure Chardonnay from Fruile-Venezia Giulia. Subtle, floral, ripe pear nose. Rich, creamy and concentrated, with fine but discreet acidity. Delicious fruit, nutty but bright and elegant.
Vintage ’16

Collio Sauvignon D.O.C.
This“nearly organic” Sauvignon from Cormons brings together what?is best in traditional practices and modern techniques. One of the best Italian?Sauvignons available, with delicious, fresh pear and apple fruits, apricotty, yet dry and richly textured.

Rosa Cormons Friuli D.O.C.
This is definitely Friuli’s rising star. A classic Pinot Grigio, made to perfection in the ancient style, which preserves the natural blush of pink from the grapes.

Trentino

Cantina Tramin

Stoan D.O.C.
Due to low spring temperatures and continuous rainy periods in early summer, the vines began to grow and bloom later than in the previous years. The well- watered soil was ideally prepared for a summer of high temperatures. Harvest began about ten days later than usual, and cool nights and sunny days complemented each other ideally shortly before the white wine harvest. The white wines show excellent and extraordinary quality, endowed with highly elegant aromas of fruit and intensive freshness! The wine shows a clear, straw- colored, lightly golden hue. The aromas are intense yet clean and pleasant, and suggest hints of peach and elderberry, as well as exotic aromas of pineapple, pear and subtle green notes. The wine feels fresh and gentle on the palate, with great balance and lasting flavor intensity. The wine shows a clear, straw-colored, lightly golden hue. Lazio

Cantine Casale della Ioria

Colle Bianco I.G.T.
Fruity and fresh, with good body ad excellent balance. A wine that leaves the mouth absolutely clean. An intense warm fragrance, alongside the floral aromas of daisy, hawthorn and camomile, a pleasant fruity aroma of pear stands out. The aroma is completed by fresh notes of sage and mint.

Cantina Sant’ Andrea

Oppidum D.O.C.
A lovely dry Moscato di Terracina with it’s rich straw yellow colour, shading into gold. On the nose, it unveils attractive tomato leaf, pears and apples against a teasing backdrop of Mediterranean herbs. The generous alcohal emergas on the substantial palate and the finish is full.

Dune D.O.C.
With a wonderful blend of Malvasia and Trebbiano, and a limited production of just 10,000 bottles, this is a wonderful surprise. It has excellent typicity, a deep straw yellow colour and a lightly aromatic nose giving rock rose honey, banana, almond and ripe pear. There is unexpected richness and length on the palate. There are many subvarieties of Malvasia but this is made from Malvasia Puntinata, also known as Malvasia del Lazio, which is one of the best.

Toscana

Cantina Gattavecchia

Vernaccia di San Gimignano D.O.C.G.
The nose is very clean and offers fruity, flowery sensations with faint vegetal nuances and the palate is well supported by acidity, with its soft, lipsmacking palate and ends in a leisurely finish.

Cantine Bolgheri

Vermentino D.O.C. Tenuta Guado al Tasso
The 2014 vintage has demonstrated, once again that Bolgheri can make excellent wine in hot vintages. The morphology of the territory and the nearby presence of the sea mitigate torrid summer temperatures in well-exposed vineyards and help to avoid the vine stress which compromises balance and proper ripening. A luminous straw yellow in color, the wine’s aromas are riper and more mature than usual with notes of citrus fruit and herbs, which, in this vintage, mingle with fruity sensations which recall yellow peaches and apricots. The flavors are savory, persistent, fresh, and with a pleasurable fruitiness on the finish and aftertaste.

Abruzzo

Cantina Safari

Pecorino I.G.T
Pecorino is the rarely seen ancestor of the white Pinot varietals, but certainly doesn’t taste like a Pinot Grigio. Fruity yes, but richer and bolder. Good structure and an evolving presence. We were most impressed by the nose that releases aromas of considerable elegance and delicacy, as well as by its self-confident, spacious palate.

Cantine Bove

Poggio d’ Albe D.O.G.P.
This classic Trebbiano d’Abruzzo has stylish floral aromas, with lots of luscious fruits, an impressively continuous array of sensations on the palate, from elderflower to star anise, and quiet simply stands out as one of the best in its category.

Marche

Cantina Santa Barbara

Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi D.O.C.
The entry on to the pallet is leisurely, almost a whisper, and it maintains this elegent moderation right through the lingering finish that is flawless in its consistency. The full pallet has long, refined minerality and an aristocratic sequence of dried fruit, straw and spring flowers.

Umbria

Vinicola Falesco

Poggio dei Gelsi D.O.C.P.
An elegent white wine that is made from a blend of Malvasía and Trebbiano,  the crop is harvested from the last week of September to mid-October. Berries are gently pressed, and cold maceration on the skins for 8-10 hours at 7°C and fermented in stainless steel tanks at a temperature of 13-15 ° C in order to preserve and enhance the flavor characteristics of the wine. Fruit and floral expressions intwined with intriguing minerally nuances and a pungent vein of balsam and fresh greens, matched by a savoury thread of acidity supporting the palate.
